Navigating the Justice System is a federally funded professional development training session that the Ontario Justice Education Network (www.ojen.ca) is delivering for front-line practitioners working with youth.  Although the bulk of OJEN's programming is often with youth, this session is specifically geared to enhance the capacity of youth workers, educators and front-line community practitioners on the criminal justice system.

Session at a Glance

  • Who’s who in the court system?
  • Navigating a charge step-by-step.
  • Roles of duty counsel, crown and the police.
  • Bail conditions and consequences for breaching.
  • Dealing with your Lawyers.
  • Lawyers and other justice system representatives will be available.
  • Getting Legal Aid and more!

Session materials will be provided on site. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments will also be served.

There is no fee for registration however there is a no-show fee of $50 if a registered attendee does not show up. 

This is a free day-long session (9am-3:30pm) being delivered in TWO locations across the GTA:

1. Wednesday, February 8th, 2012 at the Malvern Community Centre

2.  Monday, February 27th, 2012 at the Driftwood Community Centre
