MUJER, a non-profit organization that promotes the integral development of Latin women and youth, will be facilitating a full-day Expressive Art Retreat for Latina youth, ages 14-17, in Toronto.

The She’s You: Latina Youth Retreat, funded by Status of Women Canada, will develop the youths’ sense of empowerment, and the participants will attend workshops that deal with the themes of body image, healthy relationships and sexual choices. The workshops will give youth an opportunity to engage while expressing themselves in creative ways in a positive space that will help to address difficult issues by expanding the conversation and providing outlets of encouragement.

The activities will include various expressions of movements, visual arts, voice, clay, music and poetry. The retreat will be held at the Learning Enrichment Foundation ( 1267 Weston Road - Weston Rd and Eglington Ave.) on March 3, 2012 from 11 am – 5 pm. Participants must register for this event as there is limited capacity.

MUJER works from an inclusive, feminist, anti-racist, anti-oppressive framework. MUJER is committed to social change through education and advocacy and works towards achieving social justice for all Latin American women and children in Toronto.
