FPYN Invites you to think about policy on September 1st
FRONTLINE WORKERS settlement, health, youth justice, community, outreach, arts, housing, recreation, placement students, mental health, teachers, counsellors, etc. THIS IS YOU.
It’s too overwhelming to name all that is broken or even know where to start.
Frontline workers positively affect youth in meaningful ways every day.
We are forced to break rules and ourselves to do this.
We help to implement the policies; why shouldn't we be generating policy as well?
Let's join together to create the solutions that breaks cycles- cycles that perpetuate poverty, oppression, dependence.
This has been urgent for a long time.
This ball has already started rolling. We will be building on what others have already done, not creating something new. We know groups have done amazing work, drafting strong recommendations to reports like The Roots of Youth Violence.
There have been a lot of conversations, committees and action in bits and pieces. Examples of some of the themes:
• Closing of youth space
• Frontline worker safety, benefits and job security
• Youth and Police and Frontline workers and Police
• Provincial Youth Policy Framework
• how funding impacts the frontline
We will be coming together to further learn, connect, plan and coordinate.
Save the Date - SEPTEMBER 1st, 2011 (the whole day)
Details to follow.
