ASSISSTANT YOUTH WORKER
CONTRACT (25 hrs. /week)
The Canadian Centre for Victims of Torture is looking for an experienced person to fill the position of Children /Youth Counselor. The Children/Youth Counselor is part of a flexible team who deliver services to torture survivors and their families. The successful candidate will organize peer-groups, group sessions, liaise with parents and schools, keep record and develop an evaluation mechanism on group progress and/or outcomes of program.
Qualifications include:
· Demonstrated experience in health or social service setting.
· Knowledge of refugee and settlement issues and services.
· Experience working with children and youth
· Experience in organizing group sessions
· Proven ability to work with a team composed of staff, volunteers and in a multiracial, multi ethnic setting.
· Computer skills in word processing in a Windows environment
· Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
· Ability to work effectively with other service providers
· Flexible, as some evening and weekend work is required
· Ability to Speak a second language an asset

DURATION: April 2010 to March 2011 with possibility for renewal
SALARY RANGE: $24,700- plus benefits
