 Hi

I am sending this to you as some of you may know people who might be right for this position. This coalition has worked a long time to get funding for a position to help African-Caribbean Youth navigate the school system so that they can be successful.  Thanks for your help!

COMMUNITY WORKER

The Coalition for the Success of African-Caribbean Youth is looking for a community worker with an MSW or BSW with relevant experience or equivalent qualifications. We require a well qualified individual to be responsible for the development of a new project.

Applicants should possess previous experience with African-Caribbean youth and their families and demonstrate initiative and flexibility. We are looking for a creative self-starter with good communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in advocacy and community development in situations of oppression is essential as is experience in or knowledge of the Ontario school system. Applicants will need to give evidence of their ability to connect with and build capacity in community organizations. The position requires your own transportation and relevant computer skills and is for one year with the possibility of renewal.  It is a 35 hour/week position with a salary of $50 000 - $57 500.

Qualified applicants should submit a cover letter and current resume to:

The Coalition for the Success of African-Caribbean Youth, P.O. Box 40024, Waterloo Town Square, Waterloo, On N2J 4V1 or by email to itispossible@rogers.com, no later than September 1, 2010.

We thank all applicants. However only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

Cheers!
