Technical Support Worker
This position will allow a youth to gain experience as a frontline support worker at the CONC Drop-In and Food Access Program, helping to deliver services for the most vulnerable populations in the city. This role involves applying your technical skills in graphic and web design to assist with outreach and facilitating workshops in Drop-In program.
This is a position funded by Service Canada and is open to all Youth ages 16-30 who are not in school and not currently employed. This is a full-time, contract position. Working hours are 9am-5pm, Monday to Thursday and Friday being a full day in workshops.
Qualifications:
-Knowledge of web-based softwares, Adobe, and Microsoft programs
-Demonstrate ability to communicate well, is assertive, out-going and knowledge of another language an asset
-Education or experience in social work an asset
-Solid work ethic and enthusiastic about challenges
-Experience handling food an asset
-Understanding of issues affecting marginalized populations, particularly homelessness
-Willingness to persevere in job search activities
Responsibilities:
-Develop and coordinate outreach activities with Drop-In staff and volunteer team
-Document and upload program activities on the CONC website
-Assist and support clients with employment search (job searching online, resume creation, reference letters)
-Facilitating workshops to enhance skill sets
-Volunteer supervision and engagement
-Assist with maintenance of Drop-In Program, set up and clean up duties
-Attend employment skills development workshops
Compensation: $9.50/hr x 37.5hrs/week x 20 weeks (minimum wage increase to $10.25 in effect after April 1 2010)
