Cooking Club Youth Leader
(1) Part-Time Contract Position

The Rexdale Community Health Centre provides primary health care, community development and health promotion programs to diverse communities in North West Toronto. The Youth Department collaborates with youth groups to develop their skills in leadership, advocacy, community development and engagement.

We are seeking to hire a Cooking Club Youth Leader to implement a cooking club provided to female youth ages 13 – 24 years of age. The candidate will work closely with the Youth Team, local youth councils, institutions and organizations to deliver this exciting program.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Implement and facilitate cooking club
• Supervise program participants
• Perform administrative tasks necessary to support program
• Purchase supplies for program
• Assistant Project Coordinator with program design
• Provide evaluation tools to participants
• Maintain records of attendance and spending/ budget
• Prepare monthly reports and statistics regarding project
• Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
• At least one year of work or volunteer experience coordinating programs for youth of diverse cultures in a community based setting
• Good communication skills
• Demonstrated group facilitation skills
• Knowledge of health and safety
• Strong ability to take initiative
• Demonstrated ability to function in a team setting
• A commitment to social change
• Supervisory experience is an asset
• Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills
• Preference will be given to youth who reside in the Rexdale community
• Must be able to provide a security clearance

Salary: $11 per hour
Hours per week: 4 hours
Starting date: February 2012 – June 2012
Status: Non-unionized position
