Part-Time Voluntary as per School Year Calendar
Starts:ASAP& Ends: June
Expected Hours: 10 hours per week (Monday – Friday 2 hours/day - 8:30 -9 30 am and 2:30 - 3:30 pm)
Honorarium: $300 to be paid out by cheque every two weeks
Reporting to the Grove Community School Snack Committee, the Snack Supervisor is a voluntary position responsible for ensuring that the school’s nutrition program is successfully delivered on a daily basis; that the program is non-stigmatizing and is delivered in a safe, clean environment that adheres to Toronto Public Health standards. The Supervisor position works both independently and as part of a team volunteers to deliver the Morning Meal to approximately 90 students.
Summary of Duties:
- ·Prepare & ensure delivery to classrooms food for the Morning Meal daily by 9:30 a.m.; adhere to the set menu and observe the necessary meal substitutions for children with allergies.
- ·Maintain sanitation levels in all areas of the kitchen including daily cleaning of all dishes, utensils, transportation & storage equipment used for food
- ·Maintenance of all cooking and food storage equipment including fridges, freezers & carts;
- ·Post weekly menus created by the Snack Committee in the kitchen, noting any modifications on a daily basis
- ·Co-ordinate & train parent volunteers as needed;
- ·Liaison with members of the Snack Committee, the Executive, Toronto Public Health, and the teachersof the Grove on snack-related concerns;
- ·Report inventory weekly to Snack Coordinators for the purposes of menu planning and ordering
- ·Report to Treasurer regarding summary of receipts
- ·Other duties as assigned by the Snack Committee. Daily reporting for this position is to the Snack Coordinators.
Qualifications:
- ·Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English, good communication skills and demonstrated respectful customer service dealing with students, staff and volunteers;
- ·Organization skills;
- ·Physically able to perform required duties such as lifting of bins and boxes, ability to stand/walk for extended periods;
- ·Ability to attend Safe Food Training Workshops offered (at no cost to candidate) by Toronto Public Health once every two years.
