POSITION: Job Developer, Summer Jobs Service Program
GENERAL FUNCTION: Reporting to the School-to-work Transition Program Co-ordinator, the Job Developer is
responsible for outreach to employers, placing participants in subsidized positions, plus finding employment
opportunities in the competitive job market.
A. SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conducts outreach in the Greater Toronto Area to employers and to encourage participation in the SJS
program.
• Discuss with other SJS team members to determine which types of placements are required for clients
• Screen and match participants for job placement, ensuring a good match with participants’ skills, abilities
and goals
• Creatively market St. Stephen’s SJS services to employers, and to solicit job orders using a wide variety of
strategies.
• Maintain an accurate and up-to-date employer data base with relevant information about the company and
usage of our services. Develop and maintain a job bank, keeping orders current and reporting new job
orders to staff immediately.
• Perform on-site employer visits for the purpose of assessment, training plan development, contract signing
and monitoring subsidized placements.
• Maintain client files and all other relevant documentation pertaining to the administration and delivery of the
program in accordance with government and agency standards.
• Provide individual guidance and support to participants during their placements.
B. ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare for, and actively participate in, regular supervision meetings with the co-ordinator, including the
establishment and evaluation of an annual goal plan.
• Maintain accurate records required by St. Stephen’s Community House and the ETC.
• Adhere to all House/ETC policies and procedures and ensure confidentiality is maintained on all client,
personnel and agency matters.
• As a representative of St. Stephen’s, responsible for ensuring professional and effective communication
with employers, clients and representatives of referring/other organizations.
C. QUALIFICATIONS:
• Completed 2nd year of University or related Community College Diploma or certificate in Marketing and
/or Human Resources management or equivalent skills and related experience.
• Some experience in job development /employer relations
• Familiar and experienced with MS Word, Excel, Outlook required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of the target group, labour market trends and job development
approaches
• Ability to work effectively as member of a team and independently.
• Desire and ability to work in a multicultural /multi- racial environment.
Salary: $12.50 per hour
