This position will allow a youth with previous experience using recording, production and editing softwares to play a major role in the facilitation of programs at the LOFT Sound Studio, including recording youth artists, facilitating learning of sound technologies, and editing LOFT Music Volumes.
This is a position funded by Service Canada and is open to all Youth ages 16-30 who are not in school and not currently employed. This is a full-time, contract position. Working hours are 10:00-6:00, Monday to Thursday and Friday being a full day in workshops.
Qualifications:
-Proven experience engineering, either through certification or from music mixed
-Experience on Pro Tools, Reason and other music recording/editing softwares on a Mac platform
-Desire to collaborate with artists and open minded to criticism
-Solid work ethic and enthusiastic about challenges
-Understanding of issues affecting our youth, and eagerness to engage youth
-Willingness to persevere in job search activities
Responsibilities:
-Liaise with Program Manager, senior artists, student staff and volunteers to coordinate production of current projects
-Punctuality and accountability
-Efficient delivery of project tasks
-Implementing workshops for youth re: use of editing or recording software
-Live sound coordination for monthly LOFT Jam, showcasing artists that record at the LOFT Studio
-Coordination with Under the Radar personnel for promotional campaigns for LOFT Music
-Maintenance of LOFT Music on the web i.e. uploading new songs
-Attend employment skills development workshops
Compensation: $9.50/hr x 37.5hrs/week x 20 weeks (minimum wage increase to $10.25 in effect after April 1 2010)
