POSITION: Marketing & Community Relations Assistant (Summer Intern)
GENERAL FUNCTION: Assists in the promotion and marketing of St. Stephen’s Employment and Training Centre’s
programs and services to community organizations, referring agencies, youth and the business community.
A. SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Update and maintain agency marketing databases.
Creatively market St. Stephen’s to unemployed youth/students, employers and the community to solicit
referrals using a wide variety of strategies, such as print and electronic media, the Internet, presentations,
mail/fax outs and telephone solicitation.
Implement outreach activities of the ETC and off-site information sessions/presentations in consultation with
the Marketing and Community Relations Officer, all relevant programs and their respective coordinators.
Develop and keep current communications materials on all programs and services and distribute them to all
stakeholders on a regular basis.
Assist in the preparation of the Employment Training Centre’s Annual Report and other agency success
stories, including writing and researching youth and employer profiles.
Provide statistics and reports as requested by the Marketing and Community Relations Officer and ETC
Director.
B. POSITION REQUIRMENTS: This position is made possible through HRSDC Canada Summer Jobs. To
be eligible for this position the applicant be:
15 to 30 years of age at the start of employment
Have been registered as a full time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a
full-time basis in the upcoming academic year.
Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the
Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and be legally entitled to work in Canada
Completed one year of community college or university with an interest in employment, marketing,
communications, public relations or social service.
Some knowledge of employment/training resources and labour market information
Enthusiasm and excellent communication and presentation skills.
Demonstrated organizational abilities and good time management skills.
Knowledge of youth and youth employment issues.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
Multicultural sensitivity and the ability to work in a multicultural/multiracial organization.
Knowledge and facility in computer applications including MS Word, Internet, Outlook, Access, Windows,
DP, MS Excel and Publisher.
Ability to use a digital camera and design software an asset.
Second language an asset.
C: Salary $12.50 per hour
