Tutor and Skills Training Assistant

Key Responsibilities:
Provide tutoring and academic support to certificate and diploma skills training students at Working Skills Centre, a non-profit community agency serving immigrants, primarily women.
Work with the Skills Training Manager to produce class schedules for day and evening programs
Design and produce course outlines and hand-outs
Prepare, implement and mark special assignments to assist students who are struggling to acquire computer or other technical skills
Organize conversation circles and other group activities to assist immigrant women to enhance their English speaking skills and confidence levels
Qualifications:
A keen interest in providing assistance to immigrants and helping them understand the Canadian labour market
University or college degree or equivalent community work experience helping individuals in some teaching capacity
Strong computer skills (MS Office and Internet Search)
Ability to pay attention to detail and produce charts and PowerPoint presentations
Ability to problem solve and work independently if needed
Individual must meet Investing in Neighbourhoods criteria:
Unemployed, client, spouse, dependant adult on Ontario Works
Family in receipt of NCBS or OCB
