Program/Project Description
 
The Youth Centre provides a wide range of programs and activities for youth between the ages of 13 -27. Thorncliffe Neighbourhood Office is seeking a part-time Youth Program Facilitator to work with youth in the design and delivery of programs and activities.
 
Position Summary
 
Youth Program Facilitator designs, develops and implements programs and activities for youth. This will be completed in coordination with the Thorncliffe Youth Centre’s program and plans. The position is also responsible to lead and supervise youth programs and activities and work with other staff at youth centre in implementation of the Programs The position reports to the Youth Program Coordinator.
 
Main tasks & responsibilities:
Ø       Facilitate program delivery for youth in the community
Ø       Planning and implementation of Youth Centre Special Events
Ø       Supervise and assist drop-in clients
Ø       Mentoring youth to encourage social inclusion
Ø       Recruitment of volunteers
Ø       Meeting, liaising and networking with police, educational establishments, social services
Ø       Working with parents and community groups to win support for improved provision and acting as an advocate for young people’s interests
Ø       Supporting youth in various settings
Ø       Assessing the needs of young people, and planning and delivering programs related to, e.g. recreation, education, leadership, bullying and etc
Ø       Excellent personal motivation with a proven ability to build and work collaboratively in a strong team concept environment, and independently
Ø       Focused, versatile, dependable, multi-task oriented, flexible, positive, emotionally stable, able to adapt effectively to challenging and emergency situations
Ø       Well developed skills in prioritizing, organization, decision making, time management, and verbal/written communication skills.
Ø       Strong interpersonal skills resulting in exceptional rapport with people. Proven success in initiating, promoting and maintaining strong interpersonal relations Able to deal courteously, professionally, and tactfully with the general public in a variety of circumstances.
Ø       Undertaking administrative tasks, verifying information and responding to queries
Qualifications
Qualifications Required:
 
-Education
The minimum level of education preferred is Community College or equivalent with a preferred specialization in Youth Services.
 
-Experience: Minimum one year experience working with youth
 
Other Requirements:
A successful clearance of criminal record verification will be required when necessary for the position
