The Nexus Youth Centre is please to share its upcoming schedule of winter groups. All  groups start the week of January 9th and run until March break. The groups are open to youth ages 14-24 years and currently the majority of youth who are accessing these programs are between the ages of 16 to 19. All of these groups run out of the Nexus Youth Centre which is located on the second floor of the Mississauga Central Library. Feel free to refer any youth you may be working with to these groups or call the Youth Centre for more information at (905) 566-1883.

Highlights of the groups this coming session are:

  • Between Us Girls – this is an all girls group that meets on Mondays and supports young women in building relationships, self-esteem and connections with each other.
  • Artistic Youth Unite - youth have a chance to express themselves through writing spoken word, music, stories, etc. and perform their art with other youth in a supportive environment every Tuesday from 6 – 8 pm.
  • Art in Action - youth have a chance to explore different artistic mediums (e.g. photography, drawing, painting, etc.) as a means of self-expression on Wednesdays from 6-8:30 pm
  • Inhale/Exhale – this group focuses on overall wellness, giving youth the opportunity to exercise with a personal trainer while uncovering the benefits of exercise and nutrition on mental health on Thursdays from 5-7 pm
  • Housing, Job Search, Resource Help – every Saturday afternoon from 11-5 pm at the Nexus Youth Centre. This is a great opportunity for youth to get focused attention from Nexus staff in meeting their goals of finding a job, affordable housing or other resource needs.

A detailed schedule of these programs is attached for more information.
