Governance Structure
Frontline Partners with Youth Network addresses complex systems and issues that almost always have some connection to the way power is used over others. As a result, network members want to avoid a top-down governance structure. We also want to avoid creating a bureaucracy. Instead, we are building a fluid and empowering governance structure that inspires us, reflects our realities and allows maximum energy to flow the development of ideas, collaboration and action.
In the previously un-named sector that is the youth-serving universe, there are many bright stars. Our network galaxy was born when some of these bright stars – people working directly with youth – recognized each other and came together to support and heal each other. A constellation governance structure honours each member in the network (the bright stars) and allows us to function both as a whole (the galaxy) and in smaller working groups (the constellations).
What is a Constellation Governance Model?
The Frontline Partners with Youth (FPYN) Constellation Governance Model consists of five main features:
Universe = youth-serving universe
Galaxy = FPYN
Constellations = action-led groups in service to FPYN
Stewardship Group = the guiding and coordinating force for the network galaxy
Advocacy Group = the guiding and coordinating force for advocacy constellations
